OMG.
My mom over dinner: "Hey, so you're knitting right? I don't suppose that you'd have a shawl ready for Tuesday"
Me: *hopeful look, trying to play it cool*
Mom: "...for the birthday of this old lady I know. I don't know what else I can give her. I'll buy it from you."
Burn. BURN! Each sentence as it came out! A knife! Through my heart! A BURNING KNIFE.

Date: 2010-10-04 09:12 pm (UTC)(a) As if anyone could knit that fast, well, not without rescheduling other stuff
(b) That it isn't for herself, but for some casual acquaintance
(c) as an afterthought, a scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel afterthought at that
(d) for MONEY. She would probably die if you told her what it would be worth if one got paid per hour for the making of it.
Taking you for GRANTED! Showing she doesn't CARE!
BOOOOOOOO!

Date: 2010-10-07 08:57 am (UTC)I don't think that I could ever knit a whole shawl that fast, too, not even if I were to sit down and dedicate all my waking hours to it.
I think the most frustrating part is that it's for someone I don't know! She got me to knit a scarf for my grandpa last Christmas, and that was all sorts of fun because I had a little bit more notice and it was someone whose taste I could gauge. But this was just, eeek.
♥ and thanks
