Dude, how long have you been reading my LJ? And why?!?

---

Just found out that my brother knows about, and occasionally drops by to read, my journal. Plan A to make sure that my family takes no interest in my LJ: Security through obscurity. Result: Complete and utter FAIL.

Plan B is an elaborate scheme involving wires and levers to make sure my brother is unable to visit my journal from his computer.

...

Plan Y involves installing a tiny watchdog beside my brother's keyboard to make sure he can't type my journal URL.

...

Plan aa is to carefully monitor all my entries and comments, and viciously screen everything that is more interesting than a blank piece of cardboard.

...

Plan xy is to preemptively blurt out all my most embarrassing secrets in a public entry. If it's going to come out anyway, I might as well control the when and the how.

...

Plan zzz is to friends lock all my past and future entries.

---

Dude, seriously, T_____T.

ETA:
Oops, guess it's not coming across. I'm indulging in a bit of nonproductive whining right now, but things really are (will be) all right :-)

Also, also, I'm making fun of myself.

well if you're not scared of anything revealing, why bother.
These are the consequences of an online blog. Keep a more secretive diary which you keep locked in some drawer or cabinet.
you're on permanent account, why not try the new lj feature for permanent and paid members called mass security editing tool (or something like that)
hehe. most of my pages have been locked as I use a client called semagic without the hassle of a page reloading in the browser.

Plan zzz sounds good.
There's also rename without redirecting.

See, my mother is on my friends list. I just have a custom friends group called "Anyone But Mom" :)

My youngest brother found my journal back before I had the rename plague. I'm not sure how. As a result, I had a disturbingly coherent conversation with him, considering he was drunk at the time.

(Why uncomfortable with f-locking? (I feel uncomfortable about anything that's not f-locked, even when I'm commenting on an unlocked post.))

(I don't really see how it's restrictive, unless you actually intend for random people that you don't know at all to read details about your life. :/ Then again, I lock everything and know who's reading my journal, yet I still don't talk about my life all that much. (Airheaded! That doesn't look like a word, somehow. :O))

Also, have you read my Eyeshield fic yet? I need to post it by Thursday, and if you don't have time to just read through it then I think I can ask someone in the comm to do it?

(It isn't strange. But if you're so concerned about keeping the two separate, isn't locking your entries the most logical thing to do? Then even if somebody from RL (eg. family, current/future employers &etc) did find your journal, there wouldn't be anything incriminating for them to see?)

...You're not going to write a comment longer than the fic itself, are you? (This is a rhetorical question.)

Also the second, look out for a package in about 2 weeks. If it makes it through customs. *looks shifty*

(it struck me as silly.)

Dad found mine. I have no idea how regularly they're reading it. I showed it to my aunts, who are cool, but not to Dad. My sister is on my friendslist but never uses LJ; one of my cousins uses LJ and we're always commenting back and forth.

But. Dad. I can see why the eepy.

Creepy parent anecdote:

The day I posted this entry, I had to call my parents in the afternoon. My mom had read that post sometime in the 12 hours or so between when I posted and when I called. D:

(Parental readership is why I lock down anything mildly sensitive.)

I really don't remember. I know it was in high school [while I still lived with them], though. I forget whether I actually showed them it, or if they saw it when I was on the computer, or what.
