Mooooooooooom
OMG.
My mom over dinner: "Hey, so you're knitting right? I don't suppose that you'd have a shawl ready for Tuesday"
Me: *hopeful look, trying to play it cool*
Mom: "...for the birthday of this old lady I know. I don't know what else I can give her. I'll buy it from you."
Burn. BURN! Each sentence as it came out! A knife! Through my heart! A BURNING KNIFE.

Also, I am new to your space, and wanted to wave and say hello!

I like that she's proud enough of my quilts to want to give them as presents, but jeepers! More than a week's notice, please. Maybe even more than two weeks' notice.
I did finally figure out that my partner will wear hand knit fingerless gloves I make for her. And sometimes hats. But no socks or scarves or anything. Oh well. My mother in law will gleefully take anything I make!

And that reminds me, I need to figure out what my partner will wear. I've yet to test the waters on that.
Warning is always awesome *G* So is tiiiime.

(a) As if anyone could knit that fast, well, not without rescheduling other stuff
(b) That it isn't for herself, but for some casual acquaintance
(c) as an afterthought, a scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel afterthought at that
(d) for MONEY. She would probably die if you told her what it would be worth if one got paid per hour for the making of it.
Taking you for GRANTED! Showing she doesn't CARE!
BOOOOOOOO!

I don't think that I could ever knit a whole shawl that fast, too, not even if I were to sit down and dedicate all my waking hours to it.
I think the most frustrating part is that it's for someone I don't know! She got me to knit a scarf for my grandpa last Christmas, and that was all sorts of fun because I had a little bit more notice and it was someone whose taste I could gauge. But this was just, eeek.
♥ and thanks

I think the absolute worst part of it is that she didn't even refer to her by name, so I knew that I did not know this person at all!

My family finally understands that my knitting is my hobby, not their personal request line. Which means they will finally get some knit gifts.

I'm on the opposite end of things. I'm still trying to get up the courage to gift my family members something I've knit. Slowly getting there!
