Other major life update: CREDIT CARD

Yay, I just got my first credit card!

Delivery man came by the office to drop it off; I have been bouncing happily since yesterday. There's a bunch of stuff online I'd like to buy or pay for, but which I have never been able to do so, because I don't have the means to get my money from point A (my wallet) to point B (the seller's wallet).

And now I can.

I'm trying to figure out how to budget so that I don't get hit by sticker shock when the bills come in, but it feels great to have some measure of ability to buy stuff online :-)

Buying stuff from, say, Amazon just got so much easer. And then there's all my other current obsessions hobbies.

I have already gotten recommendations to try yarn.com -- and offers from friends to act as intermediaries for shipping from knitpicks.com. I'm trying to be disciplined and shall work off my current stash first.

I have twelve balls of bamboo-wool blend, plus the four balls of cashmere PLUS the merino wool I mean to make into a top PLUS the everything else I want to play with, and I'm trying to be responsible about using up stuff before getting more

Ahahaha, it is so hard to let go of money. So hard! But there is so much shiny out there, I don't think it will be too hard for much longer *g*

Psh. Part of the fun of being a fiber nerd is buying yarn without a single idea of what you are going to do with it, then looking at patterns until something says MAKE ME WITH THIS YARN THAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR STASH ALREADY.

That is the complete opposite of the advice I was given at the yarn shop (buy yarn to do a pattern, not the other way around)

THAT. EXACTLY THAT. I have, hand on my heart, a rather large plastic bin full of 90% acrylic yarn (hush now, it's all I have money for at the moment) and 10% other types of yarn (including the lovely squishy cotton yarn that went into my seed stitch pashmina aka "the hospital pashmina").

I also have a collection of patterns waiting for me to match them with whatever yarns are in the stash. Whee!

(oooh re: acrylics -- what brand of acrylics are you using? The local Red Heart, or something else?)

Local Red Heart, Familia, even that Mega brand yarn from National Bookstore. Heck, if it's in the least yarny, I'm going to cop a feel and get myself at least three or four balls. *chortle*

I even found some nice yarn in the school supplies section of SM Megamall, I kid you not.

I haven't seen Familia, hmmmm. I've tried Carmencita and that's kinda cool for a more matte kind of acrylic. The Mega brand... is that the one in the kid's arts and crafts section? If so, I've tried that, and it's soft on the hands ahahahaha. Though the hanks are a bit small, so it was good for practice but not sure how to use it for a full blown project.

Anyway, thanks for the tips!
