Apparently, where I'd last left off was figuring out how to start the Gearman daemon.

And apparently, how to start the Gearman daemon is simply, from the commandline:

gearmand

I'm sick, the screen is a bit fuzzy to my eyes right now. I totally read "Gearman daemon" as "German demon" hehe. Oops :p
