Hey all, as much as possible, please comment on my entries on DW rather than on LJ. (I've changed the footer on the crosspost to encourage that, as well)

Lately, I've been having trouble accessing LJ from home (I've been having trouble accessing a couple of sites, but LJ in particular ends up white-paging on me every few requests). Also, and maybe related to the first, my session keeps losing itself, and for various reasons, I find myself neglecting to log back in to LJ when I get logged out.

I have no intention of stopping crossposting, or of turning off comments on LJ entries, and I am still reading my friends page from work (*cough*). But what it adds up to is that I'm having difficulty responding to and managing my comments on LJ. So yeah, if you're trying to decide between replying on LJ or replying on DW, please do click on the links to DW at the bottom of each entry.

Thanks <3

It has been kind of interesting to me to watch and see what everyone is doing, how they're choosing to handle it. I would prefer everyone comment at Dreamwidth but that isn't going to happen- the vast majority of my reader base is on LiveJournal, and I don't see that changing. I'd prefer to have everything in one place and have that one place he have everything.

I kind of wish that in the beginning, when I imported, I had chosen to only import everything up to that point, then import everything once a month thereafter so I'd have all my comments here, but hindsight is 20/20, etc.

You know you can just run the import again, right? It will do the right thing with comments, posting them on entries, etc.

Yeah. Been too lazy so far, but I need to get my duff and do it! It won't affect my displayed entry and comment count adversely, right? Meaning that once I delete the entries here and re-import them, it won't count those entries twice, will it?

Oh wait, delete what entries? Why would you have to delete things?

I had a brainfart and didn't realize I wouldn't have to delete the entries to re-import them! No need at all, in that case :)

No need at *all* to delete the entries.

(er, barring any bugs >_<) the importer is smart and will put the comments in the right place on the entries that it already imported if you re-run the importer!

And this is why you deserve a whole factory full of cookies.

Thank you for doing the importer, and for clearing things up for me- had a total brainfart there for a sec.

In the same boat; I think most volunteers, former and current, are.

And yeah: subtle difference, but very important.

Depends on the volunteer, but if you're going to generalize, I think it's important to make yet another distinction: LJ-the-company, LJ-the-service, and LJ's users.

Ooh. You have a pretty good point there. And yeah, it is important.
