How do you respond to a request that was never actually posted?

Hehe, I saw that earlier today too, but on a different req. Never seen it before today though (no pun intended).

Heh!

I've seen requests that were posted "0 seconds ago," so know what I think? You had experienced a temporal anomaly. XD

Isn't it obvious, the LJ servers are stored in a different time-space continuum.

You've not been here long, have you :)

IIRC, it's got something to do with servers' clocks not being completely synced. I don't remember, though, whether "Never" only occurs when the calculated time is exactly -1 second (a kind of flag value) or anything < 0.

Don't you see?! That's how the bunnehs operate. They come at night. They open a time rift. They see when the new requests arrive. That's when they strike. That's why that request that's only 12 seconds old already has a screened on it. *nods sagely with a raised eyebrow*

Ah, see, the sharks don't need explaining, they work within the boundaries of time and space.
