Issues with inserting images via RTE - investigative, in progress

Investigated all four issues while I was logged in to LJ and as both logged in and logged out of Photobucket.


1. "OK" button is missing // "OK" button loads slowly (filed)
- the OK button only loads once the contents of all four tabs have finished loading
- PB tab takes an insanely long time to load when I first try it (it usually takes over a minute when logged out, maybe half that when logged in). During that time, there's no OK button at the bottom, so I cannot upload using the other methods
- RT as a separate ticket? Don't know if anything can be done, but at least the problems with PB tab (if there are any) shouldn't be affecting all image uploading methods

2. urchin.js error in error console (n/a)
- this is in Firefox 2.0.0.6 (though I think I got it in earlier versions as well) no AdBlock extension installed
- I am either not getting this error in IE, or I am getting this error but it's not showing me the error message.

- I am pretty certain that this error comes from Photobucket. This may be one reason that the PB tab loads so slowly, because my PB tab only loads after this error shows up in my Firefox error console. It could also be the other way around -- the PB tab loads very slowly and I only get this error after it finishes loading.
- meh, I suspect this is PB-side. Used to think it was a more serious error, but I am getting my pages loaded even though I experience this, so taking no action right now

3&4. "Please type the image URL" (filed) // Unable to paste images from the Photobucket tab (updated)
- happens in both IE and Firefox when I'm in the PB tab and click "OK"
- it switches to the first tab, and then pops up with a "Please type the image URL" message, probably because when I'm in the PB tab, I should be using the paste image button at the bottom of the page instead (need to take note of this because I think this is one thing users are (mistakenly?) doing)
- paste image button within the PB tab doesn't work. I get a different error message when logged in and logged out. Captured the headers using Firefox extension. May be useful? Can upload to existing RT ticket 4145 (notetoself: Strip out cookies data first plz)

More context in the headers themselves. Urgh, I'm too lazy to dig around PB to figure out what's going on (not even sure I can? Dig around, I mean. Also figure out what's going on)

'Kay, I think at this point, I need to update the RT ticket about being unable to paste images using photobucket, and possibly file another one about the "OK" button's appearance being delayed, and another one about the "please type image url" popup. And then uh. Possibly IC where necessary, but tomorrow. Think I need to stop work on this particular issue for today. Need a night's rest before I can whip this into shape to make coherent ICs, reports, etc. Here's to hoping I don't forget :P

Also, must remember to find out whether anyone else is experiencing the same problem (more to the point, if not everyone is experiencing this problem, then why?)

This may be one reason that the PB tab loads so slowly

I don't know what happen with PB side, but waiting for it to load really makes me loose patience most of the times. ;_; meanwhile other AJAXed websites loads very fast, even in slower connection, I guess Photobucket should do something with their side of UI.

Are you able to upload if you do wait for it to load? I've been testing just for the heck of it, and I haven't been able to. I'm wondering whether anyone has managed to get it to work properly (If anyone has, then I'm looking at the wrong error XD)

Even the PB login page takes hours to load in my side. And I use it very often. :( After logged in, I have to wait another 20 minutes for the main page to load, from there, it's usually no problem. :P

HEE! I thought that was just my crappy connection acting up. I didn't realize it was that way for multiple people ;)
