Oh neat. Changing your vote in a poll sends another notification.
(Please note that the poll below doesn't work.)

Date: 2007-06-13 02:16 am (UTC)I personally find S2 much easier to work with, and so much more flexible *g*.

Date: 2007-06-13 02:37 am (UTC)I agree with the flexibility of S2, but the truth is it's not easy to explain that to people XDDD
Back to the flexibility topic: I once sat down to determine a form of poll for people to choose what do they want in an S2 layout, I am stuck at the sidebar, there are endless of options you can make... O__o
For tag list alone, you can make it in forms of
(1) paragraph (plain and clouded, with numbers of entries in the title or after the tag name, there's also tag separator option)
(2) table
(3) list (we can make the list bullet different, we can choose whether to include number of entries or not)
Bla, see where I'm going to? Madness XDDD I wonder if I can still remember mathematical principles to count how many combinations of these options alone.
And I wouldn't recommend on trying S1 overrides, especially not Generator, it's just too confusing with all those tables in the layout! I like Magazine better, they're okay.

Date: 2007-06-13 10:11 am (UTC)I wonder if it's possible to fix that. Hmm.
I think the first time I tried overrides was with Generator. It didn't help that the table code was all split up into chunks across different textareas so I had no way to visualize what the finished product would be XDD ANd it really didn't help that I was sucky at tables! Too much nesting!

Date: 2007-06-13 10:16 am (UTC)You should try Magazine, *cough* shameless (http://ephi.livejournal.com/779.html) promotion (http://ephi.livejournal.com/3026.html#cutid1) *cough*
I might want to make S1 from scracth, it's like using Pitas.com templating system.

Date: 2007-06-13 10:41 am (UTC)O_o I didn't realize you could do all that with Magazine. I thought that Magazine was table-based. It's not?
I vaguely remember the Pitas templating system. Or was it the Blogger one? Probably the Blogger one; I didn't have my Pitas for long.

Date: 2007-06-13 03:28 pm (UTC)OMG! You have pitas? Don't tell me you also have tabulas.com? *g* Everytime I login to that place, the Filipino communities are getting bigger.
No, Magazine is quite good. When my friend ask me to make her a layout in S1, I investigate all styles in S1 style system, the only one that uses correct divs, header and also happens to have proper DOCTYPE (but I'm unsure whether it's actually complete)
You made me want to switch to S1 right now.

Date: 2007-06-13 05:00 am (UTC)Perhaps part of this is because there was only S1 when I started doing support; if I had started LiveJournal (and support) now, my journal would probably be in S2 and I would perhaps have played around with that more.
But yes. I think S1 is easier.

Date: 2007-06-13 10:13 am (UTC)S1... scared me, but on reflection, I think it was generator and the way that the table code was scattered among so many textareas which I couldn't make sense of. I remember at one point just randomly adding
<td>and</td>tags and hoping things would work out somehow *g*.no subject

Date: 2007-06-13 02:52 am (UTC)(I think that you can't edit in a poll after posting the entry, though. The poll itself isn't working.)

Date: 2007-06-18 03:48 pm (UTC)I would edit to note that, but I can't. The non-working poll triggers a javascript error in the RTE, and I can't switch to HTML mode.

Date: 2007-06-18 04:42 pm (UTC)You don't need to switch to the HTML editor to edit entry text :D

Date: 2007-06-13 10:07 am (UTC)In terms of syntax, I think you modify a template in S1 and it looks more like HTML. S2 is more like a 'normal' programming language. Less control over logic in S1. As far as I can tell, you have a couple of options, and you insert the proper tags, with sometimes variables to modify the behavior, but the variables are all built in (this is the part I'm least sure of).
No ifs, no loops, no functions in S1. Not as much fun :/
