It's zany really. Reminds me of the time I imagined that if I went counter-clockwise eternally across the planet, faster than the Earth's rotation, you'd actually get younger.
They should just make a single time-line for the world, and rename timezones into something else, like "state of the sun's position relative to this chunk of the earth". It would make it all the better, and ultimately less confusing.
You'd just have to switch the IDL into TGSM (The Great Sun Marker™), and instead of the weird lines that divvy up timezones, just make them straight lines based on latitude.
