2. Scribefire will tell you that it couldn't auto-detect your blog settings, and give you the choice to either Try Again or Configure Manually. Don't worry though!
Choose "Try Again".
3. Scribefire will invite you to enter your blog's URL again; it'll contain the journal you entered before. Continue...
4. You'll get a new dropdown, asking you which blogging service you want to add, and this list contains both LiveJournal and InsaneJournal. Here's where it gets tricky: you'll need to enter valid credentials for either your LiveJournal or your InsaneJournal account, and the username must match that of this Dreamwidth account*
5. You'll end up with a new blog. Edit it to reflect your Dreamwidth credentials. Scribefire may error, saying that have an invalid password. If this happens, close Scribefire, then open it again.
6. Try posting.
* Note: in my testing, I had to have the same username on both services; but I've heard from someone else who told me that you could have two different usernames, so... I'm not sure!
Okay, I followed your instructions to the letter. When I open Scribefire and click on the dreamwidth account, my page opens in the background but I get an error message stating I do not have access to the journal.
*sigh*
I did get Windows Live Writer to work, but I prefer Firefox and their add-ons.
Aw man :( Any problems I had were fixed by closing and reopening Scribefire. I wish I could have helped you! (I've heard that some people have contacted the author of Scribefire about adding support for DW, so hopefully that'll be soon *crosses fingers*)
