I'm going to Dubai with family over Holy Week, so yay :) Going to be out from Monday until Sunday my time.

I was hoping to be able to check in with people, but I just found out the hotel probably doesn't have free wifi (which wtf it's 2013!)

Iiii have heard that it's mostly an eat-and-shop trip, as well as looking at the sights (mix of old architecture and brand spanking new. Not very interested in the latter but okay sure :D)

Excited! Worried about overpacking! Worried about underpacking! ETC ETC. I'll see you all when I can <3

"Eat and shop" sounds like the perfect holiday, to me. Enjoy! I will sit over here and be envious.

Wheee, have fun! I would be more inclined to eat rather than shop - mainly because I just know that I would end up in the gold souk looking at all the jewelry and die. *g*

On the other hand, if the hotel had a spa - we all know where I would be hanging out after one whole day of touring. *g*

Free hotel wifi is something that varies a lot from country to country. For instance, I understand that in .us it's ubiquitous, but here hotel wifi is usually something that costs extra. In fact, it usually costs so much extra that it's worthwhile to buy a new 3G dongle, use it for a week and throw it away......

Actually, in the US I find it's mostly in the cheap and mid-range hotels. Anything even moderately fancy charges $10+/day for a MAC-bound connection. Hooray for phone tethering.

Ah, interesting. Presumably expensive hotels assume that you're on expenses and don't care about the cost.

Yeah, probably a safe assumption. That or 'if you have the money to stay here, you have the money to pay for internet'
