Hmm, I don't know about officialness. I suppose maybe? It's a private Jesuit institution (most of our major universities are)

If the upper management (whoever can fire faculty and staff) is Jesuits, then (IIRC) they only take orders from the Pope, not the local bishops or archbishops.
