[personal profile] sassbandit got me a packet near the end of my stay in Australia, with a warning me that I'd either love it or hate it. I can safely say that I don't love it!

It tastes a bit weird, and the are two flavor stages: the first is a mild almost pleasant taste, followed immediately by an overpowering minty anise blast.

The worst part is that it's the anise flavor which lingers, and it overrides the taste of everything that comes after it. I tried to eat an apple to clean the taste out of my mouth; the apple just tasted like liquorice instead. EEK.

(Thank you though! At least now I can say I know what liquorice tastes like *g*)

I don't like liquorice either, but strangely enough, I do like fennel. Probably because the anise flavour is much milder. And it's like celery crossed with liquorice! That makes it like an exotic alien plant!

I can't stand anything flavoured like anise, so yeah, liquorice is out for me (along with fennel, etc). But the red liquorice (which doesn't actually contain any liquorice at all) that I've had from .au was fantastic.

I misread that username as [profile] assbandit. Oops.

Also, licorice is nasty. Blech!

Oh wow, I like licorice. And anise. And tarragon (which tastes somewhat like both, but milder). And fennel! But I don't like black licorice, which I think is pretty nasty (and which, if memory serves me right, is the only "real" licorice there is). So I eat the red Twizzler stuff. Milder and still faintly like licorice. Yummy. :)
