So does Ravelry only support PayPal? I'm also seeing something about a coupon, but can't find any way to purchase it.

(I feel twitchy about PayPal because they want access to my bank account. If something goes wrong, then that's all my money at stake, and held by an unregulated private company to boot! Whereas if I just use my credit card, then I'm only at risk for a tiny bit and can dispute with my bank, which is you know regulated and stuff.

Also I don't like sending money through PayPal because of the whole them being assholes about adult content thing. They can have other people's money, just not mine >_>)

Man. For knitting though, I might almost consider actually using PayPal, maybe, if there's no other choice. Alternatively, I could just be brave and try to figure out how to remeasure the Traveling Woman shawl on my own.

ETA: Have figured it out. Thanks all ♥

I think it depends on the individual designer. I've bought things without paypal through Ravelry. But I had one pattern I wanted to get which wouldn't let me use a credit card - I got a friend to buy it instead.

Well, aside from them being evil about adult content, we've had a really amazing experience with them. My husband's account got hacked and we caught it right away, and reported it and there was no hesitation, they cancelled the charges, locked down the account, and researched the issue, and then even reported on what they found. So as far as safety goes, I feel pretty secure. (They were able to hack the account because they had already hacked Roger's e-mail and the passwords were the same. It was totally our fault.)

Is it actually ridiculously high, or just lagging behind?

Well, they can't do anything with your actual bank account, I know that much, but they can freeze your paypal account, but as long as you don't have money *in* the account, that isn't an issue, well, unless it's, like, urgent you use the Paypal account.

We use them only out of absolute necessity, though, because of their stupid Adult Content crap, so I'm not one to advocate for them. But if you have no other choice? I think you're safe.

If you want, I can buy it for you, and you give me 60 DW points in exchange. It's truly no trouble :)

I feel twitchy about PayPal because they want access to my bank account.

This is why I have a separate acct specifically for PayPal dealings. Granted, this only works well if you can easily shift money between $main_acct and $paypal_acct, but it means PayPal can't steal all my monies b/c there's only small monies in my $paypal_acct.
