I was helping my mom clean up the massive pile of stuff that's outside her room. It's maybe fifty gigantic plastic crates of stuff that all need to be sorted and either cleaned and stored/used, or thrown out/donated.

Most of it dates from when I was a kid, and there's the occasional item* that dates from before I was born. I've been using all my charm and power as the youngest to get my mom to agree that stuff needs to be thrown away (it is hard work! really hard work!), but occasionally I do find something that charms me and I claim it for my own.

Today's find: two really old drawstring bags from McDonald's, which came out when I was a kid, but they look really new because they were wrapped in plastic :D I'm tempted to use one to lug my laptop around.

Today I discovered two things:

* what I've been thinking of as a knapsack is actually a drawstring bag. A knapsack is the same as a backpack.

* the imgsize command returns output in this format:
canvas-drawstring.jpg: width="261" height="348"

No more needing to load up the image in my browser to check the filesize for posting :-D (Which is good because Chrome doesn't conveniently expose the image size in the title bar. One thing I miss about Firefox)

* example: two nude calendars from 1967 and 1969, which my mom tore up and threw in the trash but not before I saw them.

Wow! Your mum sounds worse than I am about keeping stuff. D:

Afuna, why dun you CREATE an extension for Chrome so it will show image size? I'm sure it would be popular. :)

LOL at the calendars.

In your decluttering quest, you may find this website helpful. http://flylady.net/index.asp There are things I love about it and things I hate (including the layout) but overall, it changed my life.

She is surprisingly resistant to feedback regarding how horrid her website truly is. She also handwaves away any disability issues that are brought up. *sigh* However, I have managed to take her system and tweak it to work for me. I just wish she was more open to diversity and concrit.
