Ghosts in the interests code

Bah, the issues with interests are slowly driving me to distraction. Two requests about interests within hours of each other! I feel that those two... three? issues have been going on long enough, so I spent the afternoon digging into interests code.

No progress on any of the issues, unfortunately, and I'm left feeling that there are, indeed, ghosts in the interests code. Without a reliable method of replication, I can't even tell whether it's memcache or actual stored values that are the problem.

I have the feeling that when we figure out what's wrong, it will be a FLASH OF SUDDEN INSIGHT HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED IT. But today, I'm well and truly stumped past the point of unproductivity.

There's http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2135, which is pretty bad. There's also http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2112, which is odd. Not really a high priority, but I was hoping to maybe get clues on it as well.

Hm, there's also the intcount overflowing to a negative and becoming 16xxxxx, but I can't sem to find a bug filed for it.

You mean the sitewide intcount, not per-user?

The site-wide intcount, yes. Hrrrrrrm. I don't think there's a per-user interest count. Or do you mean the number of interests a user has?

There has to be something (even if not stored explicitly), since there's a limit on how many interests each user may have.

Yes please -- and thank you! We know of three or four instances, and so far that hasn't ben enough data to figure out a pattern, if there is one.

2112 = I know how to fix, but my CLA has apparently gotten lost in a black hole and I are a poor white boy.. Well, that, and Kari kina made it, so wanted to give the chance to fix.

When interests got shunted into keywords, it nommed on the character-length constants. the space allocated for ints is 50, but keywords are only allocated 40. So, keywords get bigger? That's a suit&geek call.

Also, I woulda SWORN (before I just went and checked) that I had added to the commentary on zilla. Aparently I were hallucinating tho.

Feel free to c/p in zilla. I just got on while waiting for food (YAY free wifi) and gots to go.
