I would tell you what I know about the Philippines and then you'd say "wow, you're such an American hick, Mark, I don't like you anymore" and then I'd be sad.
When I lived in Iceland, it was interesting to see how different people's knowledge base of non-local things was. Here in the US, specifically if you grew up how I did (midwest, small cities, military brat) you tend to think of other countries in terms of the stereotypes.
