Feather and fan should work fine in the round, you just need to remember to knit on row 2 and purl on row 4 (I cheated and looked it up here :>

For eyelets I'd do yarn overs and knit 2 togethers rather than increases and decreases... I googled for that and found this drawstring bag pattern which might be of use to give you some pointers - if you're having more fun just figuring things out for yourself, just don't clicky the links :)
