(Maybe I'm just not doing things in the right order? Or it requires that I not be a member or not a maintainer? Man, I don't know.

I thought I had managed to replicate it earlier, but it turns out that I had some left over cruft from another bug I was working on. Once I cleaned that out, everything worked properly :-({}
